In this episode of Future Proof HR, Thomas Kunjappu chats with Amy Bouque, Chief People Officer at Kelly®, about what it really takes to modernize HR. Amy walks us through the transformation she led at Kelly—shifting the perception of HR from an administrative support team to a strategic business function.
With a background in manufacturing and a no-nonsense approach to process improvement, Amy shares how she empowered her team to simplify workflows, embrace discomfort, and get scrappy—before any big tech investments were even on the table.
She also discusses the evolving expectations of employees, how to design HR around access and empowerment, and the mindset shift needed to help HRBPs break free from transactional work and become true business consultants.
Amy’s insights offer a roadmap for HR leaders looking to drive impact without losing the human touch.

Amy Bouque has a passion for empowering people to thrive at work and in life. As Chief People Officer for Kelly®, a global leader in providing strategic workforce solutions and connecting talented people to great companies, she does exactly that. Amy leads the human resources practices for the more than 5,000 internal full-time Kelly employees around the world. She views their dedication to connecting people of all backgrounds with work that enriches their lives as a truly noble cause.
Describing herself as an ally to all people, Amy strives to accelerate the success of Kelly through transformative people initiatives that help employees find their purpose and achieve their full potential through meaningful work. Amy holds degrees from both Michigan State University and Wayne State University. With both kids off to college, Amy enjoys her role as a bird launcher (empty nester). In her newly found spare time, she enjoys reading, hiking, kayaking and sitting at a bonfire with a glass of red wine.
